His was indeed a God-given talent, far beyond the meaning of the term musician. Truly one of God's elect. In his prime as
an accompanist he was unapproachable. Most people associate him with the pianoforte, but the organ was his true medium of expression. At the console of an organ, he seemed to be completely transformed and in a state at exaltation. His gift of improvisation, the truest test of an organist, was really wonderful. I have heard many of the world's great organists, but never heard any player that could
equal him in showing the latent beauty of an organ. His gift of tone colouring was uncanny, and only expressed by the word 'genius'.
